Illustration Friday -Proverb

A rolling stone gathers no moss -  but occassionaly coconuts! This illustration refers to when the Rolling Stones were forced to postpone their tour after their legendary guitarist injured himself falling from a coconut tree in Fiji in May 2006. Ironically the postponed gigs were part of The Bigger Bang Tour! A message posted on his website later declared “Hey, everything is cool, my guitar is tuned, I’m ready to go.”

Illustration Friday – Fearless

Fearless – The All Blacks sprung to mind for this week’s topic , and seemed completely irrelevant, what with the FIFA World Cup only a couple of weeks away!

Illustration Friday – Linked

Linked – from last week’s post, (see what I did there!). The launch this week of the Conservative Party Manifesto where  Joe Public were invited to join the government! Count me in – do you know the expenses these guys are on?

Illustration Friday – Dip

Dip -  Election Special! The dip here is not referring to the Prime Minister, (a man of high intellect (and Raith Rovers supporter!)), but rather the dips, twists and turns that we, the voting public, can expect over the coming weeks as the  rollercoaster that is the general election campaign gains momentum. Lucky us!

Illustration Friday – Rescue

Rescue – or pet rescue in this circumstance. A nod to the important role pet rescue centres provide, offering a second to chance to animals who deserve to find a good home, as was the case with my own border collie Poppy. Created in adobe illustrator, initially as a mock-up for a boarding kennel but shoe-horned to fit this week’s topic.

Illustration Friday – Expired

A purely graphic interpretation of subject matter, unusually for me. Keeping things simple which probably suits my mindset right now. An Illustrator creation for info.

Illustration Friday – Propagate

As  well as being contrary, Mary was a little slow on the uptake!

An experimental vector workout with the line art of the character added latterly.

Cartoon Workshop at The Royal Society, Edinburgh

My first cartoon workshop to grown-ups was recently delivered to an audience of professional trainers, (talk about baptism of fire!), by invitation from the South East, (Scotland), branch of The CIPD, (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development). The aim of the evening’s session was to illustrate how a simple cartoon can add as I think I promoted it “an extra dimension to effective communication delivery”.  The session is neatly summarised here by Bill Atkinson, Group Lead T&D at South East Scotland Branch CIPD. New Stuff

A current character design project commissioned from a local, (Edinburgh), based company.  The brief, to design and develop an identity featuring a haggis character, rolling around in a plastic ball, speeding downhill!  The haggi are a very shy breed and sightings rare, so accumulating visual references proved one the major challenges.

If you are interested in “zorbing” and live in or around the central Scotland area you may want to stay tuned to www.rollinghaggis.com for updates and news of opening offers.

If like me, you were/are ignorant to this growing global phenomenon, click here to find out more.
